In 2007, Latvia’s largest golf complex opened within the grounds of Saliena, and spans a total area of 75 hectares. It includes two golf courses: one with 18 holes, and the other with 9 holes, as well as driving ranges and practice areas. The golf course has been closed for reconstruction since 2013. Currently, the world’s No. 1 golf course architect Jack Nicklaus is working on the upgrading of the golf complex. After reconstruction, Saliena golf complex will definitely be the best in the region, with a premium clubhouse, comfortable 25-room hotel, gym, SPA resort and tennis courts.The golf complex is due to reopen in 2015.
Hockey is the most popular sport in Latvia. The modern Ice Hockey Hall at Saliena hosts various hockey games, team training, figure skating, and activities for both children and adults. Saliena’s residents have the chance to skate or play hockey throughout the year, with this great facility right on their doorstep.
Babīte Sports Complex is home to a 25-metre swimming pool for adults, heated children’s pool and sauna. Adults can swim laps or join the water aerobics, whilst professional trainers teach their children to swim.
500 metres from Saliena is a state-of-the-art football pitch with a high quality artificial surface. Children’s, youth and adult football team training sessions are held here. This is the place where talented youngsters can sign up for football academy, or even set up their own football team to hold friendlies and championships.
Just 600 metres from Saliena is Piņķi Reservoir and its water-skiing base. Experienced instructors are available for adults and children.
Do you enjoy skateboarding or roller skating? A modern skate park has been built next to the Babite Sports Complex, where young skateboarders and roller skaters can hone their individual skills and compete to see who’s the best at pulling tricks.
